Joost van Dijk is proud of the new 4G scanners.

Jeast van Dijk has been working within Beekenkamp Plants Ornamentals for 5 years and is responsible for the production process. Today Joost proudly told us about the new 4G scanners.

After a successful test period, Beekenkamp Plants Ornamentals is now working with new 4G scanners. These scanners replace the old-fashioned scanners and provide insight, efficiency and fewer errors.
To explain the differences and advantages, a bit of explanation is needed. For example, the customer orders 4,500 begonias and wants them delivered on day 3 in week 24. Our ERP system automatically calculates the cutting, sorting and detour day. These dates are recorded in the system. All trays with young plants are barcoded. The barcodes are scanned with every action. This makes the steps of each tray known and insightful.

The biggest advantage of this 4G scanner is that it is wireless and live. It can therefore be used at all Beekenkamp locations and even in external greenhouses that are rented. This smart scanner links the scanned data live with the data from the system and therefore quickly sees if a batch seems to be off. The production worker immediately receives a notification from the system: “note: this batch should have been staked yesterday, but this has not happened yet.” This can be checked immediately and fixed where necessary. In addition, these scanners provide a direct print job to the new seed lines. Previously, one had to log into the system, the batch was searched manually and sent to the printer. Now that goes directly to the printer via barcode. So this too is faster, more efficient and less prone to error.

“The new 4G scanners make the entire system cleaner and provide higher reliability to the customer.”
